About Us
Flyology transcends to be the study or exploration of what it means to be "fly" for me, ~Stand Up, Stand Out. Show Up, manifests a sense of confidence, uniqueness, and style. It combines the concept of "ology" (the study of something) with "fly," which is often used to describe someone who is stylish, cool, and self-assured.
How It Began
Growing up in a small town, Columbia, Mississippi, I gained my nickname from by Dad,“a fly in a bowl of buttermilk.”. Why? because I was the only Black student at an all-white elementary school. My dad, concerned for my safety, as justice was unfair due to the color of our skin. With my parents' strength and unity behind me, I walked into that classroom with courage and pride~ the beginning of what would become Flyology.

Hi, I’m Darlene Phillips, the heart behind Flyology.
I’m a retired escrow professional, a certified life transformational coach, alopecia advocate, and the girl who turned a childhood nickname into a global mission. My journey includes joy, loss, laughter, bold choices, and a whole lot of faith, even in my elementary school days. I now believe my Daddy saw something different in me.
